The Royal Commission of Inquiry (“the Inquiry") has launched a series of investigations into topics in its Terms of Reference.

Evidence is received by the Inquiry in response to Notices to Produce served upon evidence providers pursuant to s 20 of the Inquiries Act 2013 (“the Act”).

This Practice Note sets out how the Inquiry will approach the redaction of information from documents or any other evidence received in the course of its investigations and from those participating with the Inquiry pursuant to section 15 of the Inquiries Act 2013 (“the Act”).

If a person has evidence that is relevant to the Inquiry’s Terms of Reference they may provide a statement setting out their experience.

Under section 17 of the Inquiries Act 2013, the Inquiry can designate a person or group as a core participant in the Inquiry.

This practice note explains how participants can apply for legal assistance to engage with the Royal Commission.
